About the Author

William G. Carpenter was born on Long Island and grew up in Connecticut, Texas, and California. He studied literature at the undergraduate and graduate levels, then taught at various universities in California (and one in China) before going to law school. He has lived in the Twin Cities since the 1990s and is currently working on a book-length poem about the English and British Civil Wars of the 1640s and 1650s.

About the Illustrator

Miko Simmons is an international award-winning theatrical designer who traces his origins to the historic Rondo neighborhood in St. Paul, Minnesota.  He studied art and physics at St. Paul’s Hamline University.  With his professional background in electronic information display, he is now creating cinematic sets for operas and musicals while continuing to pursue his first passions, drawing and painting.

About the Narrator

Kyle Derek is an award-winning poet and voice-over artist, a Toronto based actor, operatic bass, writer, composer, director, and producer. He’s the president of Mightier Productions, the co-founder of Indie Opera Hub, and the former Managing Director for North American Operations at Octant Aerospace Consulting.

In the world of voiceover, in addition to numerous large commercial campaigns, he’s currently the voice of Drago on the Netflix animated series Bakugan, Batman in the fan-made series, Batman: Just a Mortal, Fred the Gorilla in the Night of the Zoopocalypse, the Scotiabank popcorn astronaut in Cineplex Theatres, and has voiced the villainous Cornacabra in Finish Line Games’ puzzle video game Maize, George Washington and Vice President on the Emmy Award winning animated series Peg + Cat, Yoshio on Beyblades, Taylean on Bakugan Brawlers IV, Dyson on the Lost Girl motion comic (nominated for a Gemini), and was the voice for the Evergreen charitable organization on the PSA called Trees, which won the Crystal Ward from the Radio Marketing Bureau for best PSA, and was also the voice for Condom T.O. which picked up a bronze award at the Epica award show in Amsterdam.
